Design Engineer II

Applies engineering principles and researches, designs and develops new products and systems to meet customer standards and envelope requirements. Coordinates with Sales Engineers and operations personnel to translate broad concepts of customer requirements into reliable, cost-effective, and producible latch products. Reports to a Project Engineer or Sr. Project Engineer.
Responsibilities:
1. Translates customer requirements into detailed designs.
2. Utilizes project management tools to ensure timely completion of projects.
3. Applies engineering principles and researches, designs, develops concepts, and tests products and systems that meet established parameters including cost, envelope, producibility, and quality.
4. Performs and/or assigns, checks, and coordinates personnel engaged in the preparation of detail drawings.
5. Works with short-run-shop personnel to develop product prototypes and methods of tooling needed to produce products.
6. Resolves engineering problems, which surface throughout the development cycle and in response to customer and operations personnel.
7. Utilizes stress analysis tools (i.e., FEA) during the design cycle. Also employs design for manufacture and design for assembly principles.

Requirements:
1. Must have in-depth professional knowledge of engineering principles particularly with respect to product design and development.
2. Must be able to resolve special problems associated with company products.
3. Must have a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
4. Professional Registration (EIT or PE) is a plus.
5. Works in an office environment.

This is primarily a sedentary office position. The employee answers telephone calls and occasionally bends, reaches, pushes and pulls of file drawers, etc. Moves within the office to collect, deliver, and copy documents. Finger dexterity is required to operate computer keyboard.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
